Monitor Fabric Activity in the Monitoring Hub
This lab turns routine item execution into an operational conversation. Participants create a small Lakehouse scenario, run a Dataflow Gen2 and a Spark notebook, then use the Monitoring Hub to compare their status, history and execution context.
What the lab covers
- Preparing a dedicated Fabric workspace and Lakehouse for controlled monitoring practice.
- Running a Dataflow Gen2 load and confirming its resulting Lakehouse table.
- Executing a Spark notebook and locating its run alongside the dataflow activity.
- Comparing historical executions, status, duration and detail panes for a selected run.
- Applying filters and choosing the activity columns most useful for an operational review.
Learning outcome
Participants can use a central monitoring view to separate an ingestion issue from a slow-running notebook, then identify the run metadata that helps a team triage and communicate an operational problem.
Workshop connection
This overview supports Module 10 — Administration & Governance. It provides the evidence layer behind dependable delivery: knowing what ran, what failed or slowed down, and which details an operating team should review together.
Access note
Microsoft Learn currently marks Monitor hub as a preview experience. Availability and interface labels can vary by Fabric release, and monitoring visibility follows the items a participant is allowed to view. Use an isolated training workspace for the exercise. The complete guide, sample material and step-by-step setup are provided in the workshop; they are not published on this page.
