Work with Data in a Microsoft Fabric Eventhouse
This intermediate lab explores a bike-rental availability sample stored in a Fabric Eventhouse. Participants use KQL to find and shape event data, then compare selected analytical queries through the KQL database SQL endpoint.
What the lab covers
- Creating an Eventhouse and reviewing its sample KQL database and table.
- Retrieving, projecting, summarizing, sorting and filtering bike-station data with KQL.
- Handling missing neighborhood values in query results.
- Comparing similar retrieval and aggregation patterns through the SQL endpoint.
- Discussing when native KQL is the right interface and what the SQL compatibility layer supports.
Learning outcome
Participants can explain common KQL query operations and compare them with SQL-style access. They also recognize that the Eventhouse SQL endpoint is a limited interoperability interface, not a full SQL Server engine or a data-modification surface.
Workshop connection
This overview supports Module 09 — Real-Time Intelligence & KQL. It gives participants a focused way to compare analytical query approaches over the same real-time data platform.
Access note
A Microsoft Fabric paid or trial capacity is required. Sample rows and neighborhood values depend on the source data and may vary. The detailed guide is provided during the workshop; this public page does not include the step-by-step lab instructions.
